Lord, Increase Our Faith

As I think about the request made by the disciples, I realize there is so much more to it than meets the eye. The first thing for them to consider is that if Jesus "does" increase their faith, how is He going to do it? Well, we know now, because we have the entirety of the Bible. There is only one way to increase our faith and that is through the Word of God. Rom 1:17. Faith comes from fact. And the more facts that we know about God, the more that we see how He wants to be involved in our lives in so many areas - in all areas. The more that we know about God, the more assured we are that He can do and will do what He says He will do. We know that He is Omnipotent and can do all things. We know that He is Omnipresent, so that He is always there for us. We know that He is Omniscience and knows every detail about every situation that we are going through. We know that He is loving and kind and wants to intervene for us. We know ... well, we know whatever He wants us to know that will help us trust in Him. There is also another consideration in this request. When Jesus tells us how to increase our faith and we get into God's Word then there comes responsibility for the Truth that we have heard. We are told in various places in the Bible that "the just shall live by faith". God expects us to put that new found knowledge to good use. In so doing we accomplish two wonderful things. First, we bring Glory to God. Second, a life lived by faith is a life filled with joy and peace - and excitement. Something different for the world to see. So, do you want your faith to increase? I can assure you, it is worth it.
