It's Getting Colder

It is that time of year when the temperature begins to drop. I was surprised last week when I went outside to get in my truck, only to have to scrape off some frost. I am not ready for that yet. If I remember correctly, the reason the temperatures drop with the changing of the seasons is because of the slant of the sun rays shining down. If I am wrong, well, don't tell me because it gives me a reason for this devotion. (just kidding) My point is this. Sometimes we seem to cool of as Christians because we don't put ourselves in a position to receive the direct rays of the "Son" and the light of His Word. We think we can do just fine by staying at home and reading the Bible for ourselves. There are 2 major flaws with that theory. First, we can't do just fine doing that because God has told us in His Word to "not forsake the assembling of ourselves together". Second, if we are disobeying God by staying home we are probably going to disobey God and not read His Word either. By the way, if we were reading as we say we are, we would know that we are supposed to be in Church. Now, as in the changing of the seasons, the temperature will continue to get colder until the angle changes once again. We can't expect to warm up to God until we decide that His way is the best way. If you feel yourself getting a little cool, then quickly adjust the angle so that you can begin to warm right back up. You'll be glad that you did.
