You Want Me To Do What?

I have often said that when Paul got saved on the road to Damascus and said "What wilt thou have me to do?" (Acts 9:6) that he was willing to go anywhere and do anything for God. But God knew he wasn't ready to know all that lie ahead of him. Can you imagine if God had told Paul what was going to happen over the next 30 yrs, how he may have reacted. Had God informed Paul that he was going to be rejected by his fellow Jews and his family, then they would try to kill him and he would be ship wrecked after having been beaten and left for dead, he probably would have run screaming down the road. That is the reason that God reveals in a general sense what He wants of us and then day by day fills in the blanks. God's Word tells us "The just shall live by faith...". (Rom 1:17b) Living by faith is simply taking God at His Word, one day at a time, one step at a time. You see, we needed yesterdays experiences to strenthen us for today and we need today's experiences to prepare us for tomorrow. Now, there is a matter of our willingness to consider as well. When Paul uttered that fateful question he put no restrictions on it. Unlike the average Christian today, who says I'll go if it isn't too far or doesn't take too long. I will be availble on Sunday for Church, but God I have so much to do on Saturday. I know you understand, right God? Ponder the following statement and see if it is true for you. "If you aren't willing to go anywhere, you aren't likely to go anywhere". Let God determine the where, what and when. You just report for duty.
