Labor Day

Ah, yes, it is Labor Day. A wonderful national holiday when people get off of work. Or, in other words, they don't labor. Maybe it should be called Rest Day. Okay, I know that many of you already have a "to do" list and will be plenty busy today, but there is just something different about doing jobs that you really enjoy. As a young man raised on a small farm we had to do what we could when we could. That meant that my dad, who also worked a full time job in the city, would spend Sunday afternoons plowing or mowing out in his field. One day, our Pastor asked him about working on Sunday - to which he replied "to me, this isn't working". He continued to say "it is relaxing and I have time to be alone with God". The point is, what is considered work to one person is very relaxing to another. You may be asking, how does that apply to the Christian life? Well, for some people, serving God is very enjoyable and quite rewarding. For others, the same experience can be drudgery because they approach it with the wrong attitude. How do you serve God?
